Preaching the Gospel from an historic perspective - Embracing the Five Solas of the
Reformation - Assured of the Inspiration and Authority of the Word of God!
The Preaching Ministry
of Rev. Kevin Hoffman
The preached Word is the chosen tool of God,
through His Holy Spirit, to effect change in the hearts
of dead sinners as well as the lives of His Saints. The
Apostle Paul tells the Corinthians Believers, “For
since, in the wisdom of God, the world through
wisdom did not know God, it pleased God through the
foolishness of the message preached to save those
who believe.” (1 Corinthians 1:21)
It is not only for the salvation of “those who would believe,” but, as I said
above, it is also for the sanctification of His saints. The Apostle Paul instructs
the young pastor, Timothy and tells him;
“All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for
doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness,
that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for
             every good work.
Therefore, God has chosen the means through which He will save and
sanctify His people! The primary means is through His Word as it is preached
and taught. However, the leaders in the local church are also to model what
that looks like for the body that they serve in. So, it doesn’t end with ministry
in the pulpit! But, if it does not BEGIN there, it will never arrive at it’s proper
destination.
Far too much of Christ’s Church, in our
day, has strayed from real commitment to
the AUTHORITY and the UTILITY (it is
“profitable”) of God’s Word. Sure, it is in all
of our doctrinal statements, but do we live
like what we say we believe is true? That
great Reformer, John Calvin said, as he
commented on the prophecy of Jeremiah,
“If God should descend from heaven a
hundred times, he would reveal nothing we
need to know in addition to what he has
said. His law is perfect wisdom.” (Calvin’s
Commentaries, Jeremiah 26:4-5)  God has
given us, his Church, “everything we need
for life and godliness.” (2 Peter 1:3)
In order to make full use of His Word in the works of salvation and
sanctification, God has also sent “Apostles, Prophets, Evangelists, and
Pastor/Teachers.” It is through these gifted men and the offices He has given
them that the Church is to be brought to maturity and unity in the Faith
(Ephesians 4:11-16).
If you want to be challenged by the Word of God and believe that He can
and will save and sanctify a people for Himself through the instrumentality of
His Word preached, I encourage you to host a Sunday or even several days
of meetings where this is the Focal Point. And where I can come and present
God’s Word, by His authority, and with the honest expectation of His Spirit
affecting change in the hearts of both the saved and the lost.  EMAIL KEVIN
